There is a beautiful and reciprocal relationship between the yucca moth and the yucca plant. Under the moonlight the yucca moth pollinates the yucca plant. It collects pollen, makes a hole in the plant’s seed pod and places the pollen in the mound. The moth then lays eggs in the seed pod of the yucca plant. The moth and the plant grow and develop together, and the moth larvae feed on the seeds. But while this nutrition ensures that the caterpillars develop vigorously, it does not interfere with the plant’s own reproductive process. Both living beings continue to live to repeat the cycle.
